What is Al-Ti-C?
Aluminum Titanium Carbon (Al-Ti-C) is the new grain refinement solution to replace traditional Al-Ti-B grain refiner with stronger refining ability, lower addition amount and high suitability for the usage of recycled aluminum.It is divided into two series:
1-AlTi5C0.2La - suitable for aluminum extrusion billets and rolling slabs;
2-AlTi5C0.2Pt - suitable for EC grade aluminum wire rods.

Refining Mechanism
With the assistance of TiAl3, TiC acts as a heterogeneous nucleation core and forms crystals with the growing α-Al,thereby increasing the nucleation rate of α-Al, inhibiting its trend of continuous growth due to its low nucleation rate,and achieving control of grain size. There are 2 ways to nucleate:

◆The nucleation rate of TiC is 10 to 50 times higher than that of TiB2;
◆Grain size : Al99.7 + 0.2% AlTi5C0.2 ≤ 180μm;
◆The required addition amount is 1/3 to 1/2 that of AlTi5B1.

◆No slag formation, which benefits the purification of the aluminum melt and the use of foundry returns.

Chemical composition

usage instruction
1. Ensure that the product is clean and dry before use.
2. Recommended addition temperature: 700-760°C.
3. Addition rate: 2 kg per ton, or adjust based on experimental data and actual conditions.
4. Add the product 5 to 20 minutes before pouring.
5. Addition method: Skim off the scum, evenly disperse the product into the
aluminum melt, stir thoroughly, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and then pour.
Alternatively, it can be added online using a rod feeder.
