Increasing the use of foundry returned aluminum and secondary aluminum is one of the most important and efficient ways to reduce carbon emissions of aluminum products and improve environmental protection and energy saving effects. However, reducing carbon emissions, environmental protection and energy saving does not mean reducing the quality of aluminum products. On the contrary, it puts forward higher requirements for the smelting and processing of aluminum products. One of the core issues is the cleanliness of molten aluminum, the removal of various impurities in foundry returned aluminum and secondary aluminum.
In the meeting, many experts and scholars put forward a common view on grain refinement from various angles: a large amount of redundant TiB2 in the Al-Ti-B refiner is an impurity, and it is difficult to remove, especially in the case of a large amount of foundry returned aluminum and secondary aluminum being used. It is easy to cause the related quality problems of aluminum products.
Using Al-Ti-C instead of Al-Ti-B refiner is undoubtedly a simpler and more effective way to solve the problem of redundant TiB2 impurities. TiC in Al-Ti-C does not aggregate and precipitate, does not adsorb other oxidized inclusions and non-metallic inclusions, and the redundant particles are 10 to 100 times less than Al-Ti-B, and does not form large-sized hard particles during foundry returning, recycling, etc. And it will not accumulate in large quantities at the grain boundaries. In addition to our AlTi5C0.2La efficient refining ability, on the basis of solving the problem of redundant TiB2 impurities, we can further try to reduce the amount of refining agent added, so as to further improve the cleanliness of aluminum melt and improve the quality of aluminum products.
